Description
Quality replacement air brake reservoir for trailer air systems. The Power Products HT1200 is a 12 in diameter steel tank with a 27 in shell and a volume of 2,850 cubic inches, spanning 29.5 in overall across its welded smile-style brackets below the tank. It carries a 3/4 in NPT main port, two 3/8 in NPT end ports and a 1/4 in NPT bottom drain, and is rated to 150 PSI to FMVSS 121 and SAE J10.
Signs You Need a New Air Tank
- Rust-through or pinholes, usually on the bottom of the tank where condensate collects
- Weeping or bubbling at a welded seam or head weld when soap tested
- A large slug of water at every drain, or water that keeps returning between services
- Drain valve that will not seal or will not open, from corrosion or a seized petcock
- Compressor cycling more often or slow pressure build with no other leak found
- Cracked or corroded mounting brackets, or a tank shifting in its saddle
- Dents or impact damage — a dented reservoir is a compromised pressure vessel
- Audible hiss at a port boss that persists after the fitting is refitted

Applications
This reservoir is a universal trailer air tank, selected by specification rather than by vehicle:
- Trailer air brake systems requiring 2,850 cubic inches of reservoir volume
- Installations using a 12 in diameter tank on a 29.5 in bracket span
- Supply, service and emergency reservoir positions sized to the OEM air system design
Note the two length figures carefully: the TANK shell is 27 in, while 29.5 in is the overall span across the mounting brackets. Match cubic inch capacity first, since the OEM calculated it from the total air system design and fitting a smaller reservoir is a compliance failure rather than a cost saving. Then confirm the bracket span against your frame rail mounting points and check bracket orientation. This tank has SMILE brackets, meaning the arc opens upward and the tank sits on top of them — the same tank with brackets above is a different part. To identify yours, view the tank from the side with the bottom drain port facing down. A drain valve is not included. An air brake reservoir is a DOT-regulated pressure vessel under FMVSS 121 — welding a repair on a corroded tank is not an acceptable fix.
