Description
The PAI EM92790 turbocharger is a new PAI Excel replacement turbo for Detroit Diesel Series 60 12.7L engines in Class 8 on-highway trucks. It replaces Detroit Diesel 23515635 (also serviced as 23515636 and 23516431) and the BorgWarner/Schwitzer 171701 service unit. This is the Excel-line twin of Genuine PAI ETC-9279, sold new — no core charge — and backed by PAI’s 1-year unlimited-mileage warranty.
Symptoms of a Failing Turbocharger
- Noticeable loss of boost pressure and power under load
- Blue-gray exhaust smoke and rising oil consumption from worn shaft seals
- Whining, grinding, or siren-like noise from the turbo at speed
- Excessive shaft play or compressor wheel contact with the housing
- Oil in the intake piping or charge air cooler
- Black smoke and poor fuel economy from an underboosting turbo
