Description
Quality replacement gas-charged hood tilt shock for Volvo and Mack tilt-hood chassis. Supports the hood through its travel and takes load off the hinges. World American is the heavy-duty division of Midwest Truck & Auto Parts.
Signs You Need a New Hood Shock
- Hood will not stay up, drifting or slamming closed on its own
- Hood feels heavy and needs two hands to raise
- Oil weeping or a wet film down the shock body
- Rod no longer self-extends when unloaded – gas charge lost
- Rod pitting, scoring or corrosion tearing the seal
- Bent rod or worn end fitting causing the hood to bind
- Hood tilts unevenly because only one of the pair has failed

Applications
This hood shock fits Volvo VN and VNL series tilt-hood tractors and Mack chassis using 11QM417M.
Hood shocks are replaced in pairs – a new shock on one side and a tired one on the other makes the hood tilt unevenly. Extension force and end-fitting style are not published by the manufacturer, so compare against the unit you are removing.
